Reporter at Snopes

Full-Time in United States - Remote OK - Editorial

Snopes, the oldest, most reputable fact-checking website in the U.S., is looking for an experienced and discerning reporter to join our renowned and fully remote newsroom.

Every day Snopes covers what our readers are inquiring about the most. Snopes reporters must be confident switch-hitters, tackling daily assignments in a variety of subjects, from political rumors to creature features, to in-the-weeds legal explainers, to… the utterly bizarre. We don’t expect you to cover one beat or to be an expert in any one subject — other than do excellent research. But any specialized knowledge or beat experience you do bring to the table would be useful to know about so the team can benefit from your guidance.

Snopes reporters are comfortable digging into documents, data, and public records; they’re self-guided in identifying and verifying sources; and they’re willing to help a team member who’s hit a roadblock. Opportunities for enterprise reporting abound, but everyone regularly chips in on the dailies.

Above all, Snopes reporters are insanely ethical, insatiably curious, and not easily duped. We treasure our readers’ trust and do all we can to carry forth Snopes’ mission of presenting the facts with the utmost clarity and objectivity.

Our little company puts a primacy on internal collaboration, respect, and esprit de corps — no grumps need apply.
